Robert Bell has been a working artist for over twenty years and has experimented with many mediums. When Robert first used pastels on paper, it was clear that he had found his medium.

Roberts’ pastels have evolved into works that are applied to wooden panels and glazed with resin. They are evocative of landscapes, deep space or simple forms but all are about colour.

Robert is particular about his choices for his palette and his colour sense is intuitive. He will spend hours in the studio, blending pastels to create seamless transitions between planes of colour. Robert often finishes his works with his signature black lines that bisect the work, dividing it into planes and imposing an architecture in the composition
